Inspired by the work of Cezanne, Picasso & Braque developed an art movement that sought to portray multiple perspectives on a two-dimensional surface. There were two phases, Analytic & Synthetic. Analytic Cubism dissected and examined the form of the subject. This form was highly abstract, bordering on non-objective.
Synthetic Cubism differed by constructing an image utilizing different media, also known as collage, which was previously unused in fine art.
A sect of Cubism, known as Futurism, existed in Italy. These artists celebrated modernity and often had industrial and futuristic themes, emphasizing movement. As passionate nationalists, several Futurist artists supported fascism, believing it would modernize the country.
