Reeling from the devastation of WWI, cynicism regarding government and society grew. This is evident in the artistic works of Dada. In their attempts to spite society, Dadaists took a nihilistic approach, actively defying artistic traditions. New styles emerged, including photomontage and found object art.
As their art started to gain acceptance, the Dada movement dispersed, but not before leaving an indelible mark on art history.
